What does E04 mean on a blood glucose meter? ›

Not enough blood or control solution was drawn into the test strip for measurement or was applied after the test had started. Discard the test strip and repeat the blood glucose or control test.

After the symbol appears on the screen, apply the blood sample to the narrow end of the test strip until the meter beeps. If the confirmation window is not filled in time because of abnormally high viscosity (thickness or stickiness) or insufficient volume, an 'Er4' message may appear.

The small manual that comes with the device has a chart with the error codes. For Error E4 it says: "Hand shaking while measurement; Hands or body shaking during measurement." Under possible solutions it says, "keep static position and try again." That explains why it worked on one person and not the other.

When the meter display screen shows an error message “Er4”, it could mean there is not enough blood sample on the test strip to perform a test. Repeat the blood glucose test. Take out a new test strip and insert it into the meter's test strip port.

The E4 code typically means there's a problem with the outdoor temperature sensor or wiring. Inspect the sensor and wiring for damage, clean any debris or corrosion, and make sure all connections are secure. If none of these work, you should call an HVAC professional for help.

E4 error: This error indicates that there is a problem with the deflation system. The deflation system may not be able to deflate the cuff properly. To fix this error, try taking your blood pressure again. If the error persists, contact the customer service for assistance.

The expected values for normal fasting blood glucose concentration are between 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L) and 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L). When fasting blood glucose is between 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) changes in lifestyle and monitoring glycemia are recommended.

A level of 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) means you have impaired fasting glucose, a type of prediabetes. This increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and you should consult with your provider. A level of 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher usually means you have diabetes.
