MANILA, Philippines — Savi Davison admitted that Alas Pilipinas isn’t on her immediate radar, as she prioritizes rest following a long volleyball stretch that included the PVL All-Filipino Conference and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Champions League with PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Davison is part of the 33-player wishlist for the upcoming Alas Pilipinas women’s team tryouts that the Philippine National Volleyball Federation released in March in preparation for the Southeast Asian Games in December.

However, Davison said she is looking to first veer away from volleyball for a bit while she rests up in Canada.
“I’m going to get as far from volleyball as I can for the next month and then maybe dabble in it. But right now, it’s not on my list for at least this moment. So just keeping it up, just floating, just not volleyball,” Davison said PLDT’s campaign in the Champions League ended on Thursday.
“Maybe when December comes, but right now, it’s just not my priority. We just came off of a really long conference plus the AVC.”

The High Speed Hitters lost to Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu in the knockout quarterfinals, 13-25, 22-25, 20-25, where Davison, one of the tournament’s top three scorers in the group stage, overcame a slow start in the first and finished 13 points.
PLDT put on a decent showing in the continental club meeting, taking down Queensland of Australia to start its stint before its gallant stand in losses against powerhouse teams Nakhon Ratchasima of Thailand and Zhetysu.

Davison hopes to build from this experience, heading to the PVL after the High Speed Hitters fell short in the All-Filipino Conference.
“It’s far from now. Hopefully, as a team, we grow together with them on the court,” she said. “I’m just excited for the next PVL because everyone gets better. It’s not just us. I hope these teams from the Philippines take lessons from this tournament and bring it to our home court every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. I just hope that we compete further from here.”
While in Canada, Davison vows continue to take care of her conditioning and work her game.
“I actually go home for a little bit. When I’m at home, I’ll actually play in semi-pro tournaments with the girls from Team Canada. I’ll be continuously competing throughout the summer — hopefully safely,” she said.

“It’s not so much of a break for me. It’s just maintenance. Hopefully, I can get better back home as well with the coaches back home and just bring some lessons that I’ve learned back here. But just rest as well and just time with some family because I didn’t get to go home for Christmas.”
